Join us for the Gillespie County Democratic Association’s monthly gathering. This month, our special guest speaker will be Katie Winer, co-founder of Hill Country Resistance.

Katie Winer

By trade, Katie is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice. She began her work in the Resistance as a 2nd grader protesting to the school board about canceling the school's infamous third grade riverboat tour field trip. Her outspoken personality then emerged as a journalist in college, a canvasser, phone banker and once Trump took office the first time, an avid protester. She lives in Kerrville and co-founded Hill Country Resistance as the Trump 2.0 Executive Orders gained traction one after the next, in early 2025. She'‘ll be discussing the expedited construction of this organization in response to mass crisis, and share her ICE Watch team's observations of deportation in Gillespie.
